Most of our trips are in the off season which means that most of the main attractions are closed but we still find plenty of things to do.
We went to Banner Elk in January and these were some of the places we visited.
Blowing Rock - There's not a lot to see here, but the view and the rock formations were beautiful.
Wineries (we only visited two but there were more in the area).
I love to collect wine bottles from our trips.
Banner Elk Winery
3. Grandfather Mountain - We loved this place! Beautiful views! With admission you will receive a cd or a zip drive that will be your tour guide up the mountain. This is a must see if you are making a list.
4. Lynville Falls Pisgah National Forest - We stopped at the gravel parking lot and it was quit the trek. There were signs at the bottom pointing towards a paved parking loft. I'm not sure if the trail was any easier. This was a beautiful place with two waterfalls side by side and another that you can view from atop a beautiful rock formation.
We only stayed for a few days and there were a lot of other things to see.
No matter your age there is something here for you. Lots of things for the kids.
Museums, Stables, Snow skiing just to name a few.
A word of warning to my fellow travelers, if you don't like driving on the edge of windy roads you may want to skip this trip. Dramamine required for those who get car sick.
